About Dr. Abene

Dr. Michael Abene has been treating sleep disorders for over a decade, since finishing his fellowship in Sleep Medicine at the University of Michigan. Before entering private practice, he was Medical Director of the Neurophysiology Sleep Program at Baylor College of Medicine. He treats all sleep disorders, with a particular interest in treating insomnia, using medications as well as cognitive behavioral therapy, a program that treats insomnia without medications.
In addition to insomnia, he has over a decade of experience treating obstructive sleep apnea with CPAP and managing problems with CPAP, as well as restless leg syndrome and parasomnias. Dr. Abene is board certified in sleep medicine through the American Board of Sleep Medicine and is board certified in Psychiatry and sleep medicine through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He gets satisfaction by helping patients get a good night’s sleep, understanding their sleep problems and the importance of treating them.
